100th Anniversary


The arrival of Ezzat Debs to Japan, the first of the Debs family to come to the Orient. Ezzat was the son of a textile merchant and owner of a cotton processing mill in the Middle East.


The arrival of Abdul Hadi Debs to Japan to assist his brother, Ezzat, in establishing a trading company that will export silk and cotton greige goods to their affiliates in the UK, Middle East, and Africa.


The establishment of A. Debs & Company, a general trading company based in Yokohama, Japan.


The arrival of Fouad Debs, nephew of Ezzat and Abdul Hadi, to Japan to help with the opening of the Osaka Branch office. He worked in Osaka to specialize and expand on the growing trade of textile piece goods.


A. Debs & Company ventures into fabric converting of their own original fabrics, and begins establishing relationships with weavers and finishers.


The company pioneers a new type of fabric - Sandwashed Cupro - which becomes an instant hit and success. A. Debs & Company has its first exhibition at Interstoff Frankfurt in Germany, and makes its first in-roads to the European, USA, and Latin American markets.


Debs International, a sales office, is established in Mexico City to increase Debs Corporation's sales activities into the newly opened Mexico and Latin American markets.


A Debs & Company is incorporated and renamed Debs Corporation with Soubhi Debs as its President & CEO. The mission was to expand on its growing converting business and upgrade its own product development capabilities to better differentiate itself from its competitors.


Amana Corporation is founded as a joint venture between Debs Corporation and Utic & Company. Amana was to specialize in product development, production, and fabric sales for the Middle East market by utilizing its proprietary technology for its "Darkest Black" and unique weight reduction process.


AJ Tex, the group's in-house weaving company, is established as a subsidiary of Amana Corporation. Its establishment completes the Debs Group's integration into a fully vertical operation from weaving to finishing.


Debs Corporation first presents its collections at the esteemed Premiere Vision show in Paris, France. The move is important to strengthen its presence as a fabric producer of exclusive and high quality fabrics.


Home N More is established in Mexico City, Mexico to become an importer and point-of-sale distributor of Meiwa PVC products. Meiwa is an esteemed producer of high quality gravure printed tablecloth and window decoration products.


Debs Corporation begins to produce fabrics using AirDye technology, a low-cost and effective waterless dyeing and printing method originating in the USA. Debs builds its own custom machinery and technical know-how to fine-tune the technology into full commercialization.


Debs International is renamed Debs Latin America to represent the expanding sales into the Latin American markets.


Ebisu Real Estate is established as an independent and licensed real estate company to manage the real estate activities of the Debs Group and beyond.


The Debs family celebrates its 100th year since arriving to Japan by devoting their entire year to honoring their dedicated employees, partners, and key customers through special events in Kobe and Paris.
